Welcome to the Home Page for the 2008 Canadian Men's Amateur Championship
August 8 - 15, 2008

It is my pleasure to serve as Chair of the 104th Canadian Men's Amateur Championship & Willingdon Cup Host Committee. As many of you already know, the Canadian Men's Amateur Championship is our country’s oldest national golf championship and this is the 10th time that it is being hosted in the province of Alberta and we very pleased that the RCGA has chosen Paradise Canyon as the venue for the 2008 championship.

There is no other golf championship in Canada with a richer history than the Canadian Amateur Championship. More than a century old, the Amateur was first contested as one of the newly formed Royal Canadian Golf Associations first orders of business in 1895 at the Ottawa Golf Club.

Among the Canadian legends that have won our national Amateur championship are Moe Norman (twice), Nick Weslock (four times), Gary Cowan and Doug Roxburgh (four times). Incidentally, all four golfers are enshrined in the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame.

Paradise Canyon has hosted a number of prestigious golf events in its short history with the most recent being the 2004 Alberta PGA Championship. The course proved itself then to be up to the task and with the assistance and guidance provided by the RCGA, Paradise Canyon will certainly be up to the challenge of Canada's best male amateur golfers in 2008.

The residents of Lethbridge and surrounding area have proven themselves time and again as great volunteer supporters of these events, and this host committee is no exception. We have assembled a very qualified and dedicated host committee whose every intention is to make this a memorable event for all the players and volunteers. We will do our very best to represent Paradise Canyon and Lethbridge on this national stage, the 104th Canadian Men's Amateur Championship.

For those of you interested in volunteering, we expect the total number of volunteers for this event will be in the vicinity of 175, and as we get closer to the start of the golf season, we will be making a call for volunteers. For periodic updates from now till then, we will be contacting the local media and please visit this website often to stay up to date on the latest happenings.
